it is time..once again!
ByLast year I was able to achieve a huge change in the way i ate. I started on a completely raw food, and mostly green, diet. The food contained everything that i needed. It did not loose any of its priceless energy through cooking!!.
I must point out that as a committed Lard arse i was desperately in need of giving myself a break!! Some 4 stone over weight, and suffering from asthma as a result, the diet seemed obvious.
The criteria
No dairy… cheese, milk, chocolate etc (a big thing to help with asthma to improve breathing)
50% at least of each meal is green and raw ie spinach, broccolli, Kale, well any green leafed salad etc
25% protein, pulses, soya, bean shoots, various sprouted seeds and stuff (alf alfa, mung beans, pretty much every thing sprouted.. and wow there is alot!!)
25% Carbohydrates, No conventional bread! Dehydrated pulse and seed crackers, I did cook some rice and quinoa but not much.
Used lots of spices, raw chillies, raw onion, Homous made with raw sprouted chick peas (which is awesome!!)
Lots of juiced fruit, wheatgrass, spiralina, grated carrot, grated apple on every breakfast with almond milk.
Kept to 700 to 900 cals a day.
This must sound pretty difficult stuff, but i lost 3 1/2 stone from May through September. I had loads of energy and felt really alive.
The problem came as the winter set in. The green food started to lose its energy as it came from further away and was not as fresh. Much of it was not as available.
I resolved to eat some cooked food, potato and pasta etc which i have continued with until now. I do not feel nearly as energetic, but maybe my body has recieved the things that it needed at this time of year.
But now comes the time again. The sap is rising in the trees and plants, everything is awakening again.
So my diet will resume (I did put about 3/4 stone back on) I am looking forward to it. It is like being closer to nature and the elements, an awesome feeling!
I would not necessarily recommend this for others, but for me it was perfect. I hope you may find a balance that is right for you. _/|\_ Blessings (wish me luck 🙂 )
